Offline RPGs worth your storage space
Offline RPGs are a specific joy. No servers to go down, no timers, no fear that the game vanishes when the publisher pulls the plug. You download the world and it's yours.
The tricky part is finding ones with real depth on a small screen. Turn-based combat tends to win here, since it forgives slow taps and lets you think. Emberhold Chronicles is my current favorite for exactly that reason.
When I test an RPG for offline use, I check three things: does the story continue without a signal, do saves stay local, and is the interface built for thumbs. A surprising number fail the first test the moment you enter airplane mode.
My tip: budget your storage. Good offline RPGs are often large, but they earn the space. Clear out a few abandoned apps and give one a proper weekend.
